Anchor of Hope Frame Steampunk Wall Art, Handmade Mixed Media
What is it? Mixed-media art.
This small 6x6" wooden frame is part of an original design set for the eclectic art collector or anyone interested in quirky, imaginative, and slightly steampunk-ish styles. The frame was carefully and meticulously hand-crafted by me using a wide array of art supplies and misc. sea-type objects. It is a solid wood frame distressed with crackle paste, a stencil and texture paste and hand-painted, sanded, glued, tacked, glittered, nailed, blinged, and decorated with various scraps of materials.
Dimensions of the frame itself are 6"x6"x1.5" and with wings and resin pieces it reaches nearly 8 inches for width and height and 2.5 inches deep. It will sit on a shelf or countertop, it is not designed to hang. This is just one of a series of similarly designed frames that can stand entirely alone or pair perfectly with another of your choosing. No two are the same, so with each frame you are getting an original, one-of-a-kind piece of art work. I hope you love them as much as I loved creating them!
Specifics:
This particular one is painted with Metallic Berry, Amethyst, Navy Blue, and Green Turquoise acrylic paints, as well as similarly shaded shimmery water colors and white Gesso. In the center you will find an anchor topped with resin skull and bones and micro beads from Finnabair. Anchor is tied onto frame with a netted ribbon. Behind and beneath the anchor is a burlap nest topped with many jewels of the sea including silk flowers, shells, beads, resin hearts, gears, and wings. At the bottom edge of the frame you will see flowers, metal gears and clock pieces, glass beads, pearls, highly dimensional buttons, and resin pieces: a steampunk heart, gears, leaves, and a clock winder. (All resin pieces were created using Finnabair's amazing Re-design and Imaginarium moulds.) Two netted ribbons are wrapped around the entire frame and topped with art stones and microbeads.
One of my favorite Bible verses is Hebrews 6:19: We have this hope as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, which enters the Inner Place behind the veil. And Paul also says in Romans 15:13: Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Spirit. So I combined the gifts of God for the quote that finishes off this piece. Behind it, atop the entire frame, you'll find a few more sea shells, pearls, beads, and metal flower.
All items were adhered using a matte medium gel, gesso, and Bearly Art Precisoin Craft Glue to assure that nothing comes apart. Frame sits simply on shelf or counter.
Artist Disclaimer:
One of a kind art. There is only one available.
My prices may seem inconsistent, but every item is priced according to the amount of time I spend creating them as well as the supplies used. I handcraft nearly every piece that goes into my art. The resin pieces are the simplest things I create because the amazing moulds do most of the work for me. But other items found on each of my pieces is completely designed and meticulously put together by me. While there are a lot of fantastically beautiful options out there, I don't buy many pre-made embellishments because I want my art to be unique and entirely MY design. So if the prices seem higher on some pieces and lower on others, it has everything to do with the time spent creating each individual embellishment used on those pieces. I solemnly pour my heart and soul into everything I make. And I truly hope that shows in my attention to every single detail and quality of my products.
