A Steampunk Kind of Rainbow - Handmade Mixed Media 12x16" Canvas Panel Wall Art

What is it? Mixed-media art.

A handmade mixed media piece titled A Steampunk Kind of Rainbow. Yes, it's a contradiction. But, it's a fun one!

"Geez Whiz, Mabel those colors sure look awfully bright! What did you do to enhance the color on those images?"

"Well, Luella, this may be hard to believe, but I did absolutely nothing to enhance the images, the project is literally THAT bright! I used Ranger Alcohol inks on the entire project, and if there's one thing you should know about alcohol inks, they are quite a bright coloring medium. And as long as you don't store this beauty in direct sunlight, they will remain quite bright.

Specifics:

Bottom layer: 12x16" hard canvas panel, coated in black matte gesso, embossed with stamps, embossing ink, and black embossing powder. 
Second layer: white card stock stamped with black ink and heavily distressed and torn. Third layer: Yupo alcohol ink paper covered in a rainbow of Ranger alcohol inks and placed on several sheets of white card stock to give it a sturdy lift.
Final layer consists of resin pieces coated in black or white gesso and colored with the alcohol inks to match whichever part of the rainbow they were currently lost in. Matching Sparkle Spots, flat-back pearls, and round pearls are hidden amongst the central piece.
Top coating: Finnabair Metallique Pearl Wax. Bright and cheerful and not quite "steampunk" in its tones while still being beautifully "steampunked!" with the mechanical gears and other pieces. Hangs from attached B&W ribbon laced through the top.

All items were adhered using a matte medium gel, gesso, and Bearly Art Precisoin Craft Glue to assure that nothing comes apart. Frame sits simply on shelf or counter.

My prices may seem inconsistent, but every item is priced according to the amount of time I spend creating them as well as the supplies used. I handcraft nearly every piece that goes into my art. The resin pieces are the simplest things I create because the amazing moulds do most of the work for me. But other items found on each of my pieces is completely designed and meticulously put together by me. While there are a lot of fantastically beautiful options out there, I don't buy many pre-made embellishments because I want my art to be unique and entirely MY design. So if the prices seem higher on some pieces and lower on others, it has everything to do with the time spent creating each individual embellishment used on those pieces. I solemnly pour my heart and soul into everything I make. And I truly hope that shows in my attention to every single detail and quality of my products.
