The Rainbow Kaleidoscope 12x16" Canvas Panel Mixed Media Wall Art
What is it?
Handmade mixed media piece built for hanging on the wall, this one is entitled The Rainbow Kaleidoscope. It is a rainbow of 60ish butterflies, and in case you didn't know, a flock of butterflies is called a "kaleidoscope."
Specifically...
It is a 12x16" hard canvas panel that has been painted and gessoed over, then stamped with various stamps in black ink. I made a ton of paper butterflies by die cutting them out of white card stock and watercolor paper, blending ink onto each one in an array of rainbow colors, stamping on them in the respective color and putting each one together with shiny black card stock bodies. Some of them are shiny, they have an added layer of Finnabair Metallique Pearl Wax. Some have foam tape behind the wings to keep them elevated, some are simply folded upwards. Finishing touches include splatter in each rainbow color and black, and an assortment of Sparkle Spots (Trinity Stamps), flat back pearls, and shimmery rhinestones, all which matching the rainbow section they can be found in.
Is it sturdy and will it last?
All items were adhered using a matte medium gel, gesso, and Bearly Art glue to assure that nothing comes apart. I take each of my finished pieces and shake the daylights out of them, upside down and everything, to assure that nothing will fall off. So, yes, it is quite durable and built to last.
Artist Disclaimer:
One of a kind art. There is only one available.
My prices may seem inconsistent, but every item is priced according to the amount of time I spend creating them as well as the supplies used. I handcraft nearly every piece that goes into my art. The resin pieces are the simplest things I create because the amazing moulds do most of the work for me. But other items found on each of my pieces is completely designed and meticulously put together by me. While there are a lot of fantastically beautiful options out there, I don't buy many pre-made embellishments because I want my art to be unique and entirely MY design. So if the prices seem higher on some pieces and lower on others, it has everything to do with the time spent creating each individual embellishment used on those pieces. I solemnly pour my heart and soul into everything I make. And I truly hope that shows in my attention to every single detail and quality of my products.
